Gel Plate Image Transfer and Stamping
2 hours... gel printing experience is helpful but not essential
Workshop Details
Explore further methods to maximise your gel plate creativity. It will be helpful if you've used a gel plate or attended any of my gel plate printing classes previously but it is not essential. In this workshop session you will experience further ways to gel print by exploring image transfers. This is where you can transfer high gloss magazine images/laser printed images onto the gel plate surface, colour them and then make your print. Text can be applied in the same way and lettering will be the correct way round once the print is pulled. Adding lettering is a great technique for adding interest into your transfer backgrounds as well as making tissue papers for use in collage. You will be focussing on how you can add extra colour and further textured backgrounds within the image. You will also explore the use of stamped images onto the gel plate using inks and adding further colour and textures before pulling the print. You will take home a variety of prints which you can use as a great starting point in your art as backgrounds, collage fodder papers to cut and collage with, to add to or use as journal pages, or to be made into envelopes or gift boxes to mention just a few ideas. All materials will be included and techniques fully demonstrated. Although if you do have any "High Gloss" magazines (eg Vogue) these will be helpful to bring along. All abilities are very welcome but some experience is helpful for this workshop... Please wear old clothes as printing can be messy. Aprons are provided; or you can bring your own if you'd prefer.
