A very warm welcome to flossWORKSHOPart.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hello lovely creatives, thank you for stopping by...

Sept is already upon us and so I'm starting to list workshops for OCT and NOV...there's already a couple in for December too. Remember the booking window for an art class workshop will close 48 hours before the class is due to start. Naturally there will be more young people workshops during the week of half term (Mon 24 - Fri 28 October). I have started to separate the youngsters classes into age groups of young 7-12yrs and teenagers into 12-16 yrs of age. You will know which group to put your 12 yr old in as it'll depend on what side their sibling(s) or friendship group lands in! Please bear with me as I split and shift classes around.

To get to the details about each workshop...click on the book classes tab above or by using the drop down menu if you are using the mobile site. By clicking on the workshop image that appeals to you, it will give you the written details. I have started putting dates onto the title pictures too. The book now button will take you to the available dates...please ping me a message if you have any difficulties.

If you are looking for something online to follow along to for free you can see my my latest PaperArtsy blog A PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS https://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/2022/08/2022-topic-12-minimalism-by-floss.html. You will need gesso, a set of rubber stamps (specific PaperArtsy product if you want to do the same project but it can be adapted to what supplies you already have.) an ink pad and some water colour pencils.

Watch out for some new classes that I've added in. More Gel Plate Printing and Mixed Media Cone flower are just two.

If you are looking for a group session/party I offer group discount if all 6 spaces are booked together, ping me an email for a discount code.

I've been busy getting ready for an exhibition at Gallery North which is happening in Sept so pop along in Hailsham to look at a wonderful display from The Hailsham Artists Network from Sept 17th.

Stuck for a gift idea or not sure what you'd like to treat a creative family member or a friend to? I now offer a gift card to use against workshops or art...many different price options are available. They are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

If you'd like to follow my own creative journey you can do just that on Instagram or Facebook @floss_workshop.art

You will see videos and reels of some of the methods I use in my art...and hear any fun announcements in my stories.

Keep creating, stay safe and I look forward to seeing you in the workshop soon,

Floss x

flossWORKSHOPart...a place to discover your love for creativity.

In-person mixed media art sessions (for up to 6 persons) are held in a calm but inspiring purpose built workshop based in East Sussex; they will allow you to have the opportunity to be creative and meet like minded people. Mixed media allows for so much scope to "play" that time flies and you lose yourself in the moment, which can be an important step for your wellbeing as well as your creative spark...

During sessions you will create individual art pieces, art pieces in series, or journals depending on which course or workshop you attend. Textures and building layers using many different techniques including  printing, collage, stamping and stenciling using acrylics and/or inks, and stitching are not only fun to explore but have endless possible outcomes.  Each workshop is more fully explained in the online booking details section.

Creative wellness and having a sense of inner calm is an important consideration for Floss within her own art practice and is something she likes to encourage.  Believing that Art has a therapeutic quality, the workshop lends itself for offering a safe and clear space to explore creativity and to let go/unwind; Art can definitely balance a busy lifestyle, help you manage stress levels/anxiety or cope with your own personal rollercoaster.

Have a peek at the variety of workshops or courses on offer and join me, Floss, an intuitive Mixed Media Artist who loves to share art techniques with others in the workshop for some creative fun... all groups are up to six persons. No experience is necessary (unless specified) and all abilities are very welcome.

You can see Floss' own art journey on both Instagram and Facebook (including video's of her processes). She is part of the PaperArtsy 2022 creative team and most of her Art is available to buy from her 'art shop' tab on the website.  She has taught Art, Textiles and Design Technology from prep school students up to and including GCSE for many years, alongside Mixed Media to adults too.  Floss is a fully qualified teacher and is DRB checked.

Deep cleaning will take place between workshop sessions and windows will be open.  Please use lateral flow tests prior to booking and arriving for a session.

Mixed Media

Mixed media classes are designed to engage you in intuitive art processes. Each class is aimed at all abilities (unless specified) and are taught in a very relaxed atmosphere in the purpose built workshop. The focus is on exploring and enjoying the variety of methods available and chatting with other like minded persons as you create. Typically you will be using a variety of techniques in one session which may include a mixture of collaging, stencilling, rubber stamping, gel plate printing, embossing and stitching (depending on the session you choose).  By using a whole range of mediums and techniques on one piece it can create more depth, texture and interest in your multi layered piece of art.

The 'book classes' tab lists all classes in 5 categories: Adult, Young People (12-16) Little People (7-12) Family 7yrs+ and Creative Wellness.  All workshop classes are explained in detail with available dates when you click on the images.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Creative Wellness (more dates COMING SOON)

Creative wellness through art can be helpful for your overall wellbeing. These courses will allow you to block book a given number of sessions where you will be in the same group of no more than six for the duration. I am currently offering two courses; Self Care Journal and Take Care Tags. Both courses will use mixed media techniques but will focus on allowing you to unwind from whatever emotion you are caught up in. By introducing you to a few art methods within a safe space, sessions should bring you a calm and clear mind finding a way to enjoy new things and make good choices that are in tune with what your mind and body need. Sessions will help you to let things go and explore a way to uplift your spirits all within the small group.

Mindful Journal 6 sessions

Mindful tags 3 sessions

There is a waiting list for commissioned art journals. Please email me with colour and date requirements.

Art Journals

Start or continue your mixed media journey with making your own journal... or make one as a gift to give to someone special.

Handmade books are something to be treasured and all will be individually created using your own favourite colours and choice of designs.  Enjoy designing the cover, hand printing papers, adding design accents to pages, using art, recycled, repurposed papers or envelopes, card and/or fabrics to give interest to each page then binding it together to make yourself a really unique journal for you to use for your art, bullet or daily journalling, jot down your self care affirmations or just somewhere to glue things into that make you smile.

Handwriting Guidance

Handwriting seems to be something that is sadly becoming less important due to the use of computers, tablets, smart phones, texting and keyboards... however...

Exams are still handwritten and if an examiner cannot read your handwriting, regardless of whether the answer is correct or not, it will get marked wrong! Maybe you are worried about your child's handwriting? or Is it you who would like to improve your handwriting? Maybe you won't be sitting exams but it's still rather lovely to receive a card with beautiful handwriting inside...

If you'd like some writing guidance, with a little creativity thrown in, click on the link to enrol in the next available course.
