A very warm welcome to flossWORKSHOPart.
Hello lovely creatives, thank you for stopping by...
Please bare with me whilst I continue to update classes and available dates...June will be a fun packed month but children's/family workshops will be more limited in the half term week due to the bank holidays.
New classes to be added will include a full session on gel printing and the many various things you can do on the gel plate, working with apertures so how two pages can work well together, bringing in focal points to pages that can other wise look like a background, creating your own printing blocks by lino cutting and by demand...another mixed media extended day.
To get to the details about each workshop...you will need to click on the book classes page either on the very right tab above or by using the drop down menu if you are using the mobile site. By clicking on the workshop image that appeals to you, it will give you the written details. The book now button will take you to the available dates...please ping me a message if you have any difficulties.
My next PaperArtsy post will go live early June, so look out for that...if you missed my last one you can find it on the link here.... https://blog.paperartsy.co.uk/2022/02/2022-topic-03-second-life-by-floss.html
If you'd like to follow my own creative journey you can do just that on Instagram or Facebook @floss_workshop.art. You will see videos and reels of some of the methods I use in my art...and hear any fun announcements in my stories.
Keep creating, stay safe and I look forward to seeing you in the workshop soon,
flossWORKSHOPart...a place to discover your love for creativity.
In-person mixed media art sessions (for up to 6 persons) are held in a calm but inspiring purpose built workshop based in East Sussex; they will allow you to have the opportunity to be creative and meet like minded people. Mixed media allows for so much scope to "play" that time flies and you lose yourself in the moment, which can be an important step for your wellbeing as well as your creative spark...
During sessions you will create individual art pieces, art pieces in series, or journals depending on which course or workshop you attend. Textures and building layers using many different techniques including printing, collage, stamping and stenciling using acrylics and/or inks, and stitching are not only fun to explore but have endless possible outcomes. Each workshop is more fully explained in the online booking details section.
Creative wellness and having a sense of inner calm is also an important consideration for me, Floss, within my own art practice and this is something I love also to encourage. My workshop lends itself for offering a safe and clear space to explore not only your own creativity but to use creativity to soften any emotional turmoil in your own time. Believing that Art has a therapeutic quality and using creativity you should find it can be a great way to let go/unwind; it definitely can compliment a busy lifestyle, help you manage stress levels/anxiety or cope with your own personal rollercoaster.
Have a peek at the variety of workshops or courses on offer and join me, Floss, an intuitive Mixed Media Artist who loves to share art techniques with others in the workshop for some creative fun... all groups are up to six persons. No experience is necessary (unless specified) and all abilities are welcome.
You can see Floss' own art journey on both Instagram and Facebook (including video's of her processes). She is part of the PaperArtsy 2022 creative team and most of her Art is available to buy from her 'shopping' tab on the website. She has taught Art, Textiles and Design Technology from prep school students up to and including GCSE for many years, alongside Mixed Media to adults too. Fully qualified and DRB checked.
Deep cleaning will take place between workshop sessions and windows will be open. Please use lateral flow tests prior to booking and arriving for a session.
Mixed media classes are designed to engage you in intuitive art processes. Each class is aimed at all abilities (unless specified) and are taught in a very relaxed atmosphere in the purpose built workshop. The focus is on exploring and enjoying the variety of methods available and chatting with other like minded persons as you create. Typically you will be using a variety of techniques in one session which may include a mixture of collaging, stencilling, rubber stamping, gel plate printing, embossing and stitching (depending on the session you choose). By using a whole range of mediums and techniques on one piece it can create more depth, texture and interest in your multi layered piece of art.
The bookings page lists all classes and their availability; all sessions are explained in detail when you click on the images.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Creative Wellness (NEW...COMING SOON)
Creative wellness through art can be helpful for your overall wellbeing. These courses will allow you to block book a given number of sessions where you will be in the same group of no more than six for the duration. I am currently offering two courses; Self Care Journal and Take Care Tags. Both courses will use mixed media techniques but will focus on allowing you to unwind from whatever emotion you are caught up in. By introducing you to a few art methods within a safe space, sessions should bring you a calm and clear mind finding a way to enjoy new things and make good choices that are in tune with what your mind and body need. Sessions will help you to let things go and explore a way to uplift your spirits all within the small group.
Mindful Journal 6 sessions
Mindful tags 3 sessions
Handmade bespoke art journals are also available to buy at the workshop.
There is a waiting list for commissioned art journals. Please email me with colour and date requirements.
Start or continue your mixed media journey with making your own journal... or make one as a gift to give to someone special.
Handmade books are something to be treasured and all will be individually created using your own favourite colours and choice of designs. Enjoy designing the cover, hand printing papers, adding design accents to pages, using art, recycled, repurposed papers or envelopes, card and/or fabrics to give interest to each page then binding it together to make yourself a really unique journal for you to use for your art, bullet or daily journalling, jot down your self care affirmations or just somewhere to glue things into that make you smile.
Whatever you are celebrating...why not celebrate with something creative?
Contact me via email to discuss details of your party.
Handwriting seems to be something that is sadly becoming less important due to the use of computers, tablets, smart phones, texting and keyboards... however...
Exams are still handwritten and if an examiner cannot read your handwriting, regardless of whether the answer is correct or not, it will get marked wrong! Maybe you are worried about your child's handwriting? or Is it you who would like to improve your handwriting? Maybe you won't be sitting exams but it's still rather lovely to receive a card with beautiful handwriting inside...
If you'd like some writing guidance, with a little creativity thrown in, click on the link to enrol in the next available course.
